Chemical peels involve the use of various solutions such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid etc. to exfoliate the outer layer of the skin, promoting skin renewal.
Chemical peels can be light, medium or deep depending on the acid solution used.
Chemical peels can be used for general skin rejuvenation resulting in:
- Fewer lines and wrinkles
- More even skin color
- Brighter complexion
- Smoother skin
Chemical peels can also be used to treat specific skin conditions such as:
- Acne (some types)
- Age spots
- Discoloration (blotchy complexion, uneven skin tone)
- Dull complexion
- Fine lines (especially under the eyes and around the mouth)
- Freckles
- Melasma
- Rough-feeling skin
- Sun-damaged skin
It is important to do a consultation with a trained professional before deciding to undergo chemical peeling. The correct acid solution and strength that is appropriate is highly dependent on each individual’s skin type and skin problems. In cases where inappropriate strength or type of acid is used, it may cause worsening of the individual’s skin condition or even complications like burns. Here at Zion Aesthetic Clinic, a formal consultation will be done with our doctor and a through analysis of your skin problems will be performed before advising you on which chemical peel is best for your skin.
