Lip Plumping Laser

What is Lip Plumping Laser?

The lip plumping laser provides an immediate response that patients will notice. In contrast to injectable fillers, the LipLase treatment is non-invasive, and there is nothing artificial as patients develop their own collagen in their lips. With several adjusted passes the characteristics of ‘ideal lips’ can be achieved such as fullness, volume, correct balance between the upper and lower lips and a well-defined vermilion border

How does Lip Plumping Laser work?

The LipLase™ treatment uses a laser device that emits controlled heat into the lip tissue. This causes micro-injuries to the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response and stimulating collagen production in the lips.

Collagen is a protein found in our bodies that helps give structure and firmness to our skin. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen, leading to thinner and less defined lips. The LipLase™ treatment helps replenish this lost collagen, resulting in fuller and more plump lips.

Additionally, the controlled heat from the laser also improves blood flow in the treated area, creating a temporary swelling effect that adds volume to the lips. This combination of increased collagen production and improved blood flow leads to natural-looking results with no artificial fillers or substances being injected into the lips.

What are the benefits of Lip Plumping Laser?

  1. Fuller, smoother lips
  2. Non-invasive treatment with no injections
  3. Stimulates collagen remodelling and synthesis
  4. Immediate, visible effect on lip volume

What to expect for Lip Plumping Laser?

During a lip plumping laser treatment, patients can expect to feel a mild heating sensation on their lips. This is the controlled heat from the laser device stimulating collagen production and improving blood flow.

After the treatment, patients may experience some minor swelling or redness in the treated area, but this typically subsides within a few hours. Results can be seen immediately after the treatment and will continue to improve as collagen production increases over several weeks.

It is important to follow any post-treatment instructions provided by your provider to ensure optimal results and minimise any potential side effects.

As with any cosmetic procedure, there are some minimal risks and side effects associated with lip plumping laser treatments. These may include temporary discomfort or mild swelling and bruising at the treatment site. However, these symptoms typically subside quickly and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers or ice packs.

In rare cases, there may be risk of infection or scarring if proper aftercare instructions are not followed. It is important to consult with a qualified professional and carefully follow all pre- and post-treatment guidelines to minimise these risks.

How to maintain the results of Lip Plumping Laser?

To maintain the results of lip plumping laser, it is important to take good care of your lips and follow any post-treatment instructions provided by your provider. This may include avoiding excessive sun exposure, using a moisturising lip balm, and staying hydrated.

Additionally, some providers may recommend follow-up treatments every few months to maintain the desired look and continue stimulating collagen production in the lips. It is important to discuss with your provider about a personalised treatment plan for optimal long-term results.

How does Lip Plumping Laser compare to Lip Fillers?

Lip plumping laser and lip fillers are both popular options for achieving fuller lips, but they differ in their approach and results. Here are some factors to consider when comparing the two:

  • Method: Lip plumping laser uses controlled heat to stimulate collagen production and improve blood flow, while lip fillers use injectable substances to physically add volume to the lips.

  • Longevity: While both methods can provide immediate results, lip plumping laser has longer-lasting effects as it stimulates collagen production for long-term improvements.

  • Natural-looking results: Lip plumping laser results in a more natural appearance as it enhances the body’s own collagen production, while lip fillers may have a more noticeable artificial look.

  • Risk of side effects: There is a slightly higher risk of side effects with lip fillers, as they involve injections and may cause bruising or swelling. Lip plumping laser have minimal risks and side effects.

Ultimately, the best option for lip enhancement will depend on individual preferences and needs. Consulting with a qualified professional can help determine which method is right for you.

Who is Suitable for Lip Plumping Laser?

The great thing about lip plumping laser is that it is suitable for most people who are looking to enhance the appearance of their lips or with the concerns like:

  1. Suboptimal lip volume
  2. Poorly defined lip borders
  3. Wrinkles and lines on lips and around lip area
  4. Hydration and glow of lips
  5. Dull or greyish lip colour

Those with thin or uneven lips, as well as those experiencing signs of ageing in the lip area, may benefit from this treatment.

However, it is important to consult with a qualified and experienced professional before undergoing any cosmetic procedure. They can evaluate your individual needs and determine if a lip plumping laser is the right option for you.

FAQs

The lip plumping laser is very well tolerated with application of topical numbing cream. Most patients experience a sensation of “heat”.

Usually no downtime is experienced. Some patients may experience a light exfoliative flaking of the lips after 3-4 days but it usually goes away after a few days.

Results are immediately visible after the treatment. However, the immediate effect of the laser is related to short term swelling of the lips after the laser treatment. Repeated sessions are necessary to generate long term results.
